FAQ's
Why do I have to do this exactly?
QuickBooks Online is now requiring some information when receiving time card data that is only available through their Payroll API. Unfortunately, they will not provide us access to that API—"closed beta"—despite repeated requests over many months. The only workaround we have found is the "dummy time card" process we relate in this help article. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation until we can get the access we need to handle this without your participation.
How often will this process need to be done?
The process needs to be done once per employee. Once all employees are set up, future exports will work smoothly without additional steps.
When should I complete this process?
Users should perform the dummy time card process when ready to export actual payroll data. Exporting won't be completed until all employees in the selected period have dummy time cards created.
