Updated Manual & Default Project Time Rules

You can now choose between manual selection, proximity-based defaults, or automatic rule-based assignments to give you more flexibility in how your team’s time is assigned to projects and cost codes.

Overview

Project Time Tracking automates how projects and cost codes are captured for your team’s clock-ins.


You can require team members to select a project manually, have one preselected based on their location, or set defaults for consistent tracking.

These settings are available under your Time Clock Rule Group configuration.


Time Tracking Modes

Automatic Mode (Enterprise Only)

  • Uses continuous location tracking to automatically assign time on projects and driving.

  • Currently disabled if continuous tracking isn’t active on the account.

Manual & Default Mode (Pro Plan)

  • Team members manually select or are automatically assigned projects and cost codes at clock-in.


Options for Assigning Time

1. Manual Selection

  • Team members must select a project each time they clock in.

  • No defaults or location-based selections apply.

  • Ideal for teams who frequently move between job sites.


2. Default Select Project Based on Proximity

  • When a team member clocks in within a geofenced project area, the related project is automatically preselected.

  • You can choose whether a cost code must also be selected manually.


3. Set Default Project and Cost Codes

  • Automatically assigns a default project and/or cost code on clock-in.

  • The clock-in banner only appears if a cost code must be selected manually.

  • Perfect for teams that consistently work on the same job.

4. Allow Project Creation

  • Enables team members to create a new project when no existing project is found for an address search.
