Importing and exporting 1099 contractors between Workyard and QuickBooks Desktop

Contractors in Workyard

When you designate a worker with a "1099 Contractor" pay type in Workyard, this is an indication that this person corresponds to a vendor type in QuickBooks Desktop.

Setting up Contractors in QuickBooks Desktop

Contractors in QuickBooks Desktop are set up as Vendors with the "Vendor eligible for 1099" option checked.

  • If you do not check this box, the contractor will NOT be available for mapping in Workyard

Importing Contractors from QuickBooks Desktop to Workyard

When importing contractors from QuickBooks Desktop to Workyard, navigate to the Team Members menu and select Import Contractors

Exporting Contractors to QuickBooks Desktop from Workyard

Contractors' time is exported to QuickBooks Desktop in the same way as employees. From the menu, select Reports > Time Report > Export Time and follow the prompts.

Where will these exported hours appear in QuickBooks Desktop?

These hours will appear in the time sheets section in QuickBooks Desktop. The same place where exported W2 hours are sent.
