📍 What Triggers Stationary Mode?

Workyard enters stationary mode when the app detects that the user has not been driving or significantly moving for 10 minutes or more. This status helps reduce the frequency of location updates to preserve the mobile device’s battery while the employee remains in the same place.

The “Stationary mode” label appears on an employee’s GPS timeline within the time card view. You’ll typically see this near the bottom of the live time card along with location and signal data.

🔋 How It Works

  • When stationary: The app lowers the GPS update frequency but continues to monitor for any movement.

  • When driving or moving resumes: Workyard automatically exits stationary mode and resumes regular GPS tracking, including location updates, battery level, and signal strength.

🧠 Why It Matters

Stationary mode allows Workyard to balance accuracy and efficiency—providing reliable GPS logs without draining your team’s phone batteries during periods of inactivity (e.g., working on-site, lunch breaks, or idle time between jobs).
